We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Full-Time Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our café kitchen and support our expanding events business. This is an exciting opportunity to influence menus, shape the future of the food offering, and grow alongside a business with sustainability and community at its heart.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of our café kitchen, leading a small team of chefs and kitchen support staff while remaining hands-on in food preparation and service. Working alongside a kitchen support team member, you will prepare and deliver our daily café menu to a high standard while helping to develop and grow our food offering as the business evolves.
Our café currently serves until 3:00pm, offering a fantastic work-life balance compared to many hospitality roles. Weekend working is essential, but the majority of shifts are daytime hours, with only occasional evening work required for weddings, events and special functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a small team of chefs and kitchen support staff
- Prepare and deliver high-quality food for the café's daily service with the support of a kitchen assistant
- Develop and cost seasonal menus that showcase local produce
- Manage ordering, supplier relationships and stock control
- Carry out regular stock checks and maintain food margins
- Ensure excellent kitchen standards, cleanliness and food hygiene
- Support recruitment, training and development within the kitchen team
- Help drive food quality, consistency and customer satisfaction
- Work closely with management to adapt and grow the food offering
- Support the delivery of occasional private events, celebrations and functions
What We're Looking For
- Experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or Senior Chef ready to take the next step
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- A hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example during service
- Knowledge of food costing, ordering and stock management
- A passion for local, seasonal and sustainably sourced ingredients
- High standards of kitchen management, food safety and hygiene
- A positive, flexible attitude and ability to thrive in a growing business
- Someone who shares our commitment to supporting the local community and protecting the environment

Salary: £14 - £17ph dependant on experience.
